A young kit had been terrorizing a small grey pill-bug when she heard a scraping behind her. Standing up quickly, she turned and tried to locate the sound. A breeze ruffled her fur and she heard the scraping sound again and saw something move. Her brown, classic tabby coat puffed out, her dark, ringed tail fur stood on end; she approached the intruder. She showed her teeth and hissed softly. A breeze caused the interloper to sway and she hopped back, startled, and lost some of her footing but regained and mastered her posture once more. She glared at the slender invader with her equally green eyes and made a leap, swatting at the long green blade of grass that had trespassed into her nest. However, another breeze caused it to dip under her paw and it survived the round. Brightkit circled back, ears pinned against her head, she hissed again and studied the green flora. Another breeze caused it to duck and she sprung forward once more batting at the slender blade and managed to shred the tip. The breeze blew it from her paws but she snatched at it again until it was caught between her small, dark paws.
With the blade of grass in her mouth she flopped onto her side and back and tried to rake at it with her back claws as if it had her pinned. However, her foe was too skinny and she was yet too young to master the move. The young kit rolled onto her side and with half closed eyes she chewed on the tip of the grass, pleased with the success of the capture. She surveyed the empty space of the nursery. It had been a quiet day.

Moonstone spotted the the young kit restling with the grass. She walked over to her. "You are doing a pretty good job. You could win a fight with any piece of grass!" she mewed with a little giggle. "So how are you doing?" she asked. "are you enjoying it here at the nursery?" Moonstone sat down waiting for the kits answer.

While scanning the nursery Brightkit spotted another cat, she slowed her chewing and eventually released the blade of grass and sat up. The kit wasn't sure she recognized this she-cat, but warmed up to her quickly with the smooth compliments. The brown tabby purred with pleasure, "I'm doing spectacular! How much did you see? What do you think of my stance?" The kit quickly stood up and puffed out her fur, glaring at yet another piece of grass on the opposite side of the nursery. She pinned her ears back again and let out a little hiss, just to show that she could be a fierce warrior one day. Just as quickly as she put up her guard it was down again and she stood purring, seeking the older cat's approval.
"Though I dunno if I want to be a warrior apprentice or maybe the medicine cat apprentice," her green eyes glazed over as she thought of training under their medicine cat. All those herbs, learning their secrets and healing powers, the wisdom and knowledge medicine cats have are invaluable. She could help other cats instead of hurting or killing them. Movement distracted her again and she saw a black cricket hop out of the undergrowth. She fell into a crouch, her tail twitching, her ears focused towards it and pounced. The cricket jumped last minute and quickly hopped back into the undergrowth.

Brightkit woke from a nap and stood to stretch her legs and back. Moss from her little nest clung to her brown striped fur, which she shook off and hopped to the entrance of the nursery. She was a little wobbly on her feet after just waking up and her little tail swung from side to side to help her keep her balance. At the entrance she looked around the camp. It was terribly quiet and she was hungry. She wondered where everyone was. 'Could be off hunting,' she thought, but it had been quiet for so long. None of it made sense to her. It felt like she hadn't seen anyone in ages. 'Am I...alone?' she thought and a tingle of fear crept up her spine. Her fur puffed up a bit, her ears twitched listening for any sign of life.

The brown tabby kitten turned quickly at the sound of a voice, her fur stood on end and her ears lay flat as she noticed the she-cat come out of the shadows. She was already on edge at the thought of being alone in a desolate camp, but the sudden voice and appearance of another cat was enough to make her jump. Brightkit hadn't even heard her approaching and it took a moment for the kit to recognize her leader. Relief washed through the kitten and her brown fur lay down flat and she hopped playfully over. "Finally, another cat!" she mewed happily and purred. "It's been quiet aaaall day..." she was saying as she swatted at a white moth that was fluttering by. "And I'm hungry," she stated as she stalked the moth where it had landed on a blade of grass.
The kitten pounced, but the moth was too quick and all she received was a mouthful of grass. She lay down and chewed on the green plant while watching the moth flutter too high for her to catch.

The kitten stopped her chewing and turned to focus on Dreamstar as she mentioned food and the fresh-kill pile. She noticed the flick of the tail and hopped to her feet, bounding after her on springy kitten legs. She slowed to a stop as she neared the clan leaders hind legs and inspected the fresh-kill pile from afar, before bounding over to it again. She picked the closest critter, which happened to be a rather scrawny mouse and took it away towards the grass. It might have been scrawny but it was big enough to drag along the ground as she walked and she stepped on it's tail once or twice, causing her to drop it.
At the edge of the grass she lay down and promptly began to play with the dead critter. She rolled back and forth, grabbed it in her paws and gave it a shove, her claws caught it and it flew into the air a couple inches. When it landed she finally lay down to start her meal, every once in a while pausing to look up or peer into the grass, her ears flicking this way and that listening to the natural noises around her.

Brightkit paused her meal to glance over at another kit who was kindly telling her not to play with her food. Her hackles spiked up a bit, 'Angers Sunclan?' she thought with a touch of annoyance. She looked the kit up and down and ignored her, continuing to eat her mouse in peace and quiet.

{ah right..I'll fix that then}Brightkit turned and looked at her leader as she told her what not to do. The brown tabby didn't say anything, but turned back to her kill and silently ate it. She didn't like being told what to do and in her opinion if she wanted to play with the dead critter what does it matter? It's dead, it's not as if she was torturing it. She finished eating and left the tail and a foot behind. Both were quite crunchy and she preferred the softer bits.
The kit pawed the ground lightly to create a shallow hole and pushed the remnants in and covered it up. Her food done and feeling warm and full, she looked around lazily, thinking she might head back to the nursery for a nap.

Brightkit struggled a bit when she was hoisted up, but soon gave up seeing as they were going to the nursery. She was a little bitter about being brought over to the nursery when she could have walked there herself - as she had planned. However, once lying down in her little nest she curled up fell asleep.
